A former high school photography teacher and art department head of over 20 years, Rick has dedicated his life to photography, fine art, and giving back to his community. Rick’s passion for art and photography began at a young age, spending hours with his father working in the basement darkroom.

A CU Boulder graduate, Rick has worked as a photojournalist and staff photographer for a number of newspapers in the Denver and Greeley areauntil he pursued a Masters in Special Education from University of Northern Colorado. Rick began teaching at Poudre High School as a special education teacher, but transitioned into full time photography instruction, building a successful high school photography curriculum. His photography classes focused on incorporatingtraditional, digital and alternative process photography techniques across three levels of instruction.

During his teaching career, Rick also established a professional photography business, specializing in weddings and portraits. The last 5 years, Rick has spent his summers teaching at an outdoor adventure camp, implementing a self-portrait photography project for high school aged campers with parent(s) in the military. Rick spends most of his free time outdoors. He currently resides in northern Colorado where he spends his summers hiking and biking with his wife and labradoodle, and winters skiing with his three kids.
